ACS Student Chapter UNAM

ACS Chapter UP-PRC
University of Puerto Rico – Río Piedras Campus
The American Chemical Society (ACS) the world’s largest scientific society, promotes the scientific development of undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty members, and their communities, through scientific diversity. The University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras chapter exemplifies this diversity by having student members from all around Puerto Rico and from diverse undergraduate majors. Thus, allowing interdisciplinary connections between science fields with innovative ideas and creative initiatives.

Our chapter’s main goal is to develop and encourage student members through chemistry, to become the scientific leaders of our society. To do so, the chapter members work with community service, hands–on demonstrations and magic chemistry shows that are presented to the community. These activities allow our members to enrich and inspire the community through the interesting world of chemistry.

Also, it gives the opportunity for student members to establish network relationships with professionals in scientific fields, helpful for those interested in graduate studies or other professional careers.
Freshman year students are encouraged to become members of our ACS chapter, giving them the opportunity to maximize the experience and benefits it offers. Leadership and communication skills are developed with the activities student members do, having a positive impact on future professional careers.
Río Piedras chapter is forging role models to reach, impact and inspire society.
